The percentage of child welfare cases is equal to the total number of children in Child Protective
Services plus the number of children who reside in the Juvenile Detention Center, divided by the
total number of children per zip code The percentage of child welfare cases was calculated by zip
code, and result for each zip code was assigned to the NSAs whose centroids fell in the zip code
boundary.
